I'll be posting a new story every month. Check back for the next one!
SEEDS ON THE WIND
there they go. Balloon fruits, tumbleweeds, helicopters, whirligigs,
milkweed and thistledown. Seeds on the wind.
POLLEN ON A FURRY BEE
where to next? To pink and white apple blossoms, violet-blue
delphiniums, hollyhocks and quince bushes. Where to next?
COCKLEBURRS ON SOCKS AND OVERALLS
what a journey they will make. High above the earth in swings, up a
bicycle path, down a grassy hill. What a journey they will make.
BUGS ON LEAVES FLOATING DOWN A RUSHING STREAM
where will they land? Beside a mossy rock or in a clump of march pinks.
Against an ancient tree trunk fallen silently across the water.
Where will they land?
BABY LOONS RIDING ALONG THEIR MOTHER'S WING
like black and white jewels set off with rubies. So well behaved. Soon
they will be off and diving. On their own.
BABY POSSUMS CLINGING TO THEIR PARENT'S TUMMY
down a tree, up another. Swinging, swaying on the branches, without

RED-TAILED HAWKS ON CURRENTS OF WARM AIR HIGH
IN THE SKY
round and over, looping, swooping, sharp-eyed, sharp-clawed. They
ride the thermals till they spot their prey.
FLEAS ON DOGS
nuzzled deep within the fur, going anywhere the dog goes. Never,
knowing, never caring. All they need is warmth and fur.
A BABY CLOSE AGAINST ITS MOTHER'S BREAST
a walking lullaby from here to there. Baby sleeping, mother singing. It
really doesn't matter where they go.
A TODDLER ON A DADDY'S SHOULDERS
What a sight from such a perch! Daddy trots and Daddy gallops. It's the only way to go.
ALL OF US ON THIS PLANET, GOING ROUND AND ROUND THE SUN
aren't we lucky with our forests and our rivers and our mountains and
our fellow living creatures? Keep it happy, green and flowing. It's our
